   A spelling of ‘my dear’ which indicates the pronunciation by a Devonshire speaker in The Dream of Fair Women, by Henry Williamson. Used as a friendly term of address to a stranger, along with ‘midears’ to a man and woman. In the same author’s Dandelion Days a Devonshire man uses ‘midears’ to address two young boys.
